Wood for the stove sits, chopped, in the wood yard at Black Mountain camp at Philmont Scout Ranch on Sunday, August 08, 2021. The staff at Black Mountain portray civil war soldiers and live in one of the few camps without direct road access, meaning that they have to hike in all their supplies about a mile down the trail from the road. The camp is also one of the only staff camps without a gas stove or even a refrigerator, meaning the staff chops wood to cook all their meals and keeps all their perishables in a cooler filled with ice.
